Weekly News Update

I’m still working on the updates I want to add to OMP so it can handle larger playlists more usably. I felt these updates were necessary before releasing the first alpha version. It will likely take me another three weeks or more to finish these updates, but it will be worth it. I will be releasing some more of these updates next week on Sunday! I’ll go into detail on what I have finished and what I still need to finish in a week. Thank you for your interest in my passion project OMP and thank you for your patronage if you saw this early!

Weekly News Update

OMP Pre-Alpha Versio 0.0.14

Version 0.0.14 of OMP has been released! Download the source here or use the official AUR package to install it.

0.0.14 comes with more improvements to largerplaylists, a row count in the playlist status bar, and a bug fix!

Major Change :

There are a few improvements to larger playlists. Copying large amounts of tracks no longer locks up OMP. There are improvements to pasting tracks, adding new tracks, dragging tracks, and deleting tracks in a larger playlist. These improvements are good, but I’m still working on finishing parts of them.

There’s also now a row count in the playlist statusbar! You’ll now know how many tracks are in a playlist without having to select them!

The genre(s) and album artist(s) column tabs’ sort was broken. They were unclickable. That has been fixed. They can now be clicked to sort.

Final Thoughts About 0.0.14 :
This update is part of some continued major overhauls to how data is changed in the playlist views and playlists. The changes are unfinished, but they are still a major improvement. I hope to finish my current improvement plans within the next two weeks.

OMP Pre-Alpha Version 0.0.15: Next Update

For the next two weeks I will be working on finishing the changes I’ve been making to OMP in order for it to handle larger playlists. I may also make some other small changes. After that, I will be focusing on other stuff needed for the release of OMP version 0.1.

OMP Alpha Version 0.1: The First Alpha

I’m continuing to work hard towards releasing OMP’s first alpha build! I’m not sure how long it will take, but you can see my progress and what I’m currently working on via the Project Page for OMP Version 0.1. There’s a To Do section, an In Progress section, a Finished and Awaiting Commit section, and a Complete section! There’s also a progress bar to help visualize how close I’m slowly getting to OMP’s first alpha!

Thank you to my patrons who saw this post early! I’m sorry the larger playlists improvements are so late and unfinished, but 0.0.13 is still a huge improvement over 0.0.12.

Weekly News Update

I’m still working on larger playlist improvements! One small update in addition to that is a count for how many rows are in the active playlist. It is displayed in the playlist status bar. You can see it on the right side of the image below.

Next week I will be releasing more larger playlist improvements! It seems I will likely need another 2 weeks to finish everything after next week, but that’s because there are some more advanced improvements I will undertake in a week that I didn’t previously intend to do. Next week version 0.0.14 is out!

Weekly News Update

OMP Pre-Alpha Versio 0.0.13

Version 0.0.13 of OMP has been released!

0.0.13 comes with 1 major change, 3 minor changes, and some code clean-up!

Major Change :

The major change of version 0.0.13 is the addition of the playlist status bar! It displays what’s going on with the playlists and database. It also shows the active playlist in the playlist view. It is part of some major changes I have been working on for the last 4 weeks of my free time. These changes will make larger playlists far more usable. The initial goal for version 0.1 is playlists up to 25,000 tracks to be usable. For the next two weeks I will be working on the remaining changes of this update and elaborate more on them then.

1st Minor Change:
Clicking play a second time on the playing track now restarts the playing or plays a new track if the playing row is not clicked.

2nd Minor Change :
Fixed values in the cue sheet with quotes causing parsing issues.

3rd Change:
Tags with multiple values, like artist, album artists, and genres, were not
being read properly.

Final Thoughts About 0.0.13 :
This update is part of some major overhauls to how data is changed in the playlist view and playlists. It’s unfinished as I’ve only implemented it fully for extracting from the database when OMP is opened and for when a playlist is sorted. Copying, adding new tracks, and dragging rows needed to be implemented and pasting and cutting need to be finished.

OMP Pre-Alpha Version 0.0.14: Next Update

For the next two weeks I will be working on finishing the changes I’ve been making to OMP in order for it to handle larger playlists. I will also be adding a number in the playlist status bar that shows how many tracks are in the active playlist. After that, I will be focusing on other stuff for needed the release of OMP version 0.1.
